Publisher's summary

Author of the beloved Half-Moon Hollow series of vampire romances (Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs), Molly Harper has created a standalone paranormal romance in which a dilapidated haunted house could bring star-crossed lovers together - if it doesn’t kill them first!

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

But Nina shows no signs of being scared away, even as she experiences some unnerving apparitions herself. And as the two of them work closely together to restore the mansion’s faded glory, Deacon realizes that he’s found someone who doesn’t seem to like his fortune more than himself - while Nina may have finally found the one man she can trust with her bruised and battered heart.

But something on the island doesn’t believe in true love…and if Nina and Deacon can’t figure out how to put these angry spirits to rest, their own love doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance.

Harper and Ronconi together again

If you could sum up Better Homes and Hauntings in three words, what would they be?

Amazing character grouping

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved all the main characters but Nina really was my favorite because she became stronger as the story progressed, wanting to help other characters, and realizing her strengths

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Amanda Ronconi is amazing, She did all the characters really great, sometimes I think she does the villeins too well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did, I stayed up until it got to the very end. Couldn't help myself, I'm hooked on Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to see what Molly Harper comes up with next. She's great with supernatural stories, and she really makes you laugh out loud at some of the situations.

Disappointingly Generic Ghost Story

What did you like best about Better Homes and Hauntings? What did you like least?

I enjoyed Amanda Ronconi's narration as always, but was disappointed with the generic haunted house story put out by Molly Harper

Has Better Homes and Hauntings turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I love Molly Harper & just hope that the next effort will be better.

What about Amanda Ronconi’s performance did you like?

I always love her ability to create completely different voices for each character & grasp their distinct personalities.

Do you think Better Homes and Hauntings needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The characters were good but the original story was not. So, it might be nice to see what happens next... As long as we're not stuck in another episode of Scooby Doo...

Don't Understand the bad reviews

Any additional comments?

I don't normally write reviews to the books I listen to, but when I first saw some of the reviews I was worried about the book being terrible. I of course got it and listened to it anyway, and thought it was another great book from Molly Harper. I liked the new take with ghosts, since she's already done vampires, werewolves, and normal. The fact that it had 5 main characters was not hard to follow. She made it very clear each time the narration came from a different character, and she didn't even have to do the "chapter 1, Nina...chapter 2, Cindy" for it to be easy to follow (unlike other books).

And of course I can't forget my favorite narrator, Amanda Ronconi, she does sarcasm so well. Brings everything to life.

A fun ghostly romantic tale. A perfect light story for de-stressing. Just what I wanted for the drive back and forth to work.

Molly Harper delivers again

If you could sum up Better Homes and Hauntings in three words, what would they be?

Entertaining, adorable, funny.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved all the main characters with their individual personalities and quirks. A wonderfully adorkable cast.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to quite a few books narrated by Amanda Ronconi and while her timbre is always recognizable, she always manages to deliver a unique performance. I especially love her when she is reading Molly Harpers books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Although I did not have any extreme reactions, I did have a few misty and quite a lot of laughing out loud moments.

Any additional comments?

The Molly Harper/Amanda Ronconi duet is simply perfect. Wonderfully funny, touching, real and supernatural.

Bootiful Paranormal Love Story

Would you consider the audio edition of Better Homes and Hauntings to be better than the print version?

I no longer read books. I only listen to audio tapes. I find it more enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

The plot line of the ghosts. It is more of a mystery story than paranormal. Plus a few romances thrown it to stir the plot.

Which scene was your favorite?

There a a creepy scene involving a ghost, a bed, and a nightmare. I really don't want to spoil it for someone by describing it. But it really made me chill.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not a book I want to listen to in one sitting. It is too much to chew in one sitting.
