Publisher's summary

The New York Times best-selling creator of the Princess Diaries, Meg Cabot combines humor, romance, and teenage angst in her provocative Airhead series.

After a freak accident puts Emerson Watts' brainiac mind in the body of supermodel Nikki Howard, it seems things can't get any worse. Then Nikki's mother mysteriously disappears and her brother shows up looking for answers. To top it all off, Em's old best friend Christopher is looking to exact revenge on the corporation responsible for Em's accident.

Trying to be Nikki

Where does Being Nikki rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I heard 6 different audiobooks so far and it was certainly one of my favorites. The serie is incredible. When I was finishing the first - Airhead- I was already purchasing the next two of the serie. I heard them all very fast.

What other book might you compare Being Nikki to and why?

It compares to the Trylle Trilogy as in both cases the life of the main character is abruptly changed when they are in their seventeen and both have to put duty above personal happiness in order to protect those they love.

What about Stina Nielsen’s performance did you like?

The story is very clearly naratted. It is easy to understand.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end moved me a lot, when Christopher finally discovered that Em is still alive in Nikkis body and kisses her but she is forced to leave him in the end

Not my kind of book

What would have made Being Nikki better?

The plot was over the top....

Would you ever listen to anything by Meg Cabot again?

unlikely

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Narration was fine.

You didn???t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It had a lot of twists and turns so I hung on to the end because of that - but the ending kind of left you hanging.

Insults our intelligence

I know this isn't a science fiction novel, but it would be nice if the author had taken an hour or two to research the brain so the original premise for the story (a brain transplant into a super model) weren't so blatantly not possible. Brains require oxygen, so a transplant would only be conceivable if the dying patient were in the hospital at the time of death, doctors were ready, and the cause of death were something not related to lack of oxygen. Secondly, even "minor" brain surgery takes a lot of recovery time. The character would not be doing strenuous modeling gigs AND full-time school less than 3 months after a brain transplant. Could we be just a tiny bit real??
