love her!

I loved hearing one of my favorite visual and voice actors speak of reading and performing. I really appreciated her description of letting the stories speak for themselves and not let her perception color the performance or the writers intention of the story or characters. Love her so much! I could listen to her read for hours and hours and never get tired!

Sounds like fun.

Performing audio books sounds like a great way to learn about authors new to you.

The other side of the mic

I am a big fan of Juliet Stevenson's performances. It was interesting to learn how she approaches reading the wonderful novels she has helped make into audiobooks. This interview was an excellent listen.

Silky British accent

If that’s what you like, and I do, this is the narrator to look for. Live her readings of Austen, the Bronte sisters, and other British writers. Hits the right tone.

HER VOICE IS HYPNOTIC

Honestly, I could listen to Juliet Stevenson read a paint can. Her book narration is outstanding; her voice makes an author's work even more rich and nuanced than it already is. The timbre of her voice is like music. It is elegant, melodious, engaging, thoughtful, and soothing. Another actor with similar gifts is Paul McGann, although I do not know if he does book narration.

It's enlightening to hear how she feels about the process of narrating, and how she approaches a project. I was surprised to discover that Juliet did not attend university, for everything she does is outstanding and elevates the bar. Goes to show that brilliance will out regardless of background. I believe I may have seen almost everything she's been in and listened to several of her book narrations.

She never fails to bring to characters a kind of transcendent beyondness -- a beautiful, deep, elegant twilight -- whether acting or narrating. And her eyes are clear windows to the interior of a character. She is a pure vessel for the work.

In short, she is simply brilliant. I love her and would love to meet her. If I had 19 thumbs, they would all be up! 😉👍🏽
