This very brief book is a simple to understand and excellent review of artistic principles, not just applicable to black and white photography. The one objection to the narration is that chiaroscuro should be pronounced with a long “o” at the end, not like the vowel in the word “do”. Chiaroscuro is also a subject worthy of more description and explanation. Perhaps another short book by this author?
Is there anything you would change about this book?
As a digital photographer of 6+ years I will say that the info given in this book is relevant more towards analog photography. It's good to take in consideration the information when shooting digital photography. Some info may be a tad dated but still relevent. If youre an amature photographer, listen to his books. You'll never be done learning and even if you already have the knowledge its good to keep your mind fresh.
Was Black and White Photography worth the listening time?
