Publisher's summary

One of the '60s most popular teen idols, Annette Funicello was more than America's favorite Mouseketeer. She knew Walt Disney, he chose her for his Mickey Mouse Club. She dated Paul Anka, Fabian, and Frankie Avalon. She made movies with such stars as Mickey Rooney and Fred MacMurray. Then she left it all behind to raise a family. In 1992, she reentered public life to share her battle with multiple sclerosis. In this touching memoir, Annette Funicello tells us that, despite it all, life is more perfect than she'd ever dreamed it might be - and once again proves to be "America's Sweetheart."

Do you remember the Mouseketeers?

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This book is exactly what I expected it to be, knowing it was about Annette. It was sweet, funny and took me back to the late 50's and my childhood.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It

What does Annette Funicello bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hearing her voice and knowing the effort it must have taken, given her illness, made it all the sweeter.

Did A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes inspire you to do anything?

It brought back all those times I raced home from school to watch the Mousketeers, Spin & Marty and the Hardy Boys. Good days, calm and peaceful days that will never happen for today's kids, unfortunately.

Any additional comments?

I loved it!

Enlightening and enjoyable!

A very sweet, poignant autobiography, told by Annette herself. My only wish, is that she could have talked more about her life with multiple sclerosis and more of the symptoms that she experienced.

Annette phone a cello’s life an inspiration!

I loved learning about the early days of the MMC and times with Walt Disney. Her chilhood was fascinating! She was remarkable lady who made a wonderful transition from Child star to teenage star and not many people can do that so flawlessly.

A beautiful story told by she who lived it

This autobiography of the late Annette Funicello is well written. Nobody is more qualified as the narrator than Annette herself. Her story is not just about her. it's a glimpse into an innocent past that we will likely never see again.

everything I'd hoped for

I loved this book as much as I'd always loved Annette. Her life is a shining example of how love, family and faith can make life wonderful, if not perfect. People always told me I reminded them of her.; what a compliment! As I enter the culmination of my life, I hope I can be half as loved and respected as she was. Brava, sweet lady, I hope to meet you some day.

Interesting and uplifting

This was a fun, relaxing read. She spoke slowly (probably due to her MS), so i increased the speed and it was perfect!

Wonderful listen!

Listening to this lovely lady narrate her story made it even more special. When I was young, Annette was my idol as well as many of my friends. We adored her and with good reason. She was very special and I'm sure that is what Walt Disney recognized in her right away.

Love Annette

Annette Funicicello....I could go on and on. I grew up with Annette in the Mickey Mouse show. Annette was beautiful and kind. She had her ups and her downs but she never turned to alcohol or drugs ...to me for that alone she was a star. Even in death her memory lives on. She’s still a ⭐️
