Publisher's summary

Multiple Christy Award finalist Siri Mitchell is critically acclaimed for her sweeping historical romances. Setting this tale in 1918 Boston against the backdrop of the Great War and the influenza pandemic, Mitchell contrasts the traditional Italian upbringing of three young ladies with the bustling American lifestyle they crave. As they toil in an elegant gown shop, Julietta, Annamaria, and Lucianna hope one day to embrace the American dream and find true love.

3 1/2 Stars

This book was much better than Flirtation Walk but not as good as Love Comes Calling. I would give it 3 1/2 rather than 4 stars. It held my interest and had interesting characters but didn't make any kind of lasting impression.

Amazing characters!

With 3 stories going on all at the same time - each one held my interest. The ethnicity issues were very insightful and I liked how the characters took care of one another.

A wonderful historical romance

We go back to a time when immigrants where full of hope that thier dreams will come true. Three young Italian women who have nothing in common forge a friendship whil working at a dressmakers shop. Each one's story is wonderfully portrayed and shows several sides to life at that time. It also shows how each one approaches to romance.

4 1/2 stars

This is the 3rd book I've read from this author. Loved the characters, story and fact it's clean. But 1/2 point off for this one because the author periodically makes comments to the reader which I felt distracted from the story.

Mainstream with Three Romance

Another wonderful plot, in a totally different time and culture, from Author Siri Mitchell. Although this is more of a mainstream novel with three romances wrapped in its intricate plot, instead if a staging romance, I loved it! Seeing New York immigrants from a culture other than Irish and getting to share the lives of 4 Italian women, truly entertained. It stars a little slow with introductions to many characters. It's worth the slow start.

Enjoyable but not well developed

I bought this book because I was going to be in a play with Italian characters and I wanted to get the accents down right. The reader is very good and I would buy something read by her again. The story is very sweet but this book is light and a little fluffy even though it deals with quite a few serious subjects. The Christian theme is not mentioned and faith plays a very small role in the whole book. I felt that far too much time was spent on the girls before they met their prospective heros so that the romance seemed rushed. Mitchell does do a good job with historical detail although she is not correct in the Author's Note which tells more about the 1918 backround. (The Author's Note is not part of the audio addition.) The author's light style suited her book "She Walks With Beauty," but does not quite suit this which should have been better developed. It is a shame she did not have an extra 100 pages to expand.

Full of Catholic Religious themes

Very sad this book promotes sinful men 2 forgive sins of other sinful people (priests). I do like how is three stories woven together.
