Couldn't Finish it!

I've enjoyed the other 3 or so books I've listened to by R.S.Grey. This one I couldn't stomach. Neither main character was tolerable. Everyone is rude, condescending, and unprofessional. The female protagonist is millenial in the worst sense. She is intelligent but immature and obsessed with her boss who is equally cringe worthy. Narrator was good but the characters were bad enough for me to return the book.

Not a good place to start.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Okay story line. You could tell rather uncomfortably that you were coming into an already established story. This book said book one. But there are three prequels. I wish I had read the three preceding books first. They would have answered questions that left you feeling you were jumping into the middle of something. I'll read (not listen) to the first book. I make no promises beyond that.

Would you be willing to try another one of Antony Ferguson’s performances?

Oh Mr. Ferguson. I'm from Texas. I'm sure you know where I'm going with this. Not being Scot or English, I think you did a splendid job on those accents. Texas ... NO my friend. You gave the main character a rather exaggerated Georgia Southern Belle accent that was further exacerbated by the fact you're a male trying to give her a feminine sound. For me, it was VERY cringe worthy!! Texans, no matter the part of this great state or how strong their dialect, DO NOT sound like that. It was hard for me to get through the book first and foremost for this reason. Better to go vanilla American, than miss.

Could you see Darkest Flame being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe. It could easily look very cheaply done if not done right.

Any additional comments?

I advise reading the prequels before this one!

No complaints!

Any additional comments?

This is about the fourth book I've listened to by this author. I enjoy her humor and believable storyline. Good narrator too on this one. I look forward to the next one.

Loved this cheeky, sweet book! At the very first I wasn't sure I was going to like this narrator. That lasted all of two paragraphs! She was great! Grey had me laughing out loud several times and chuckling pretty consistently. The romance was sweet and lusty without being crude. This was my second book of hers and I must say, she has a new loyal reader in me. It's with great confidence and anticipation that I buy the next in this series!

Her best

I was expecting another humorous and entertaining historical. it was that and more. This book really touched my heart! I believe it's her best yet. I haven't given 5 stars to anyone in a while. I did this book. The narration was good, but I had to speed up the playback from 1x to 1.25x. Sounded normal after that. Before, she sounded a bit like she'd taken too much hydrocodone! Loved loved this story!!
