I don't know why this book was so well rated. Casey was so casual about upending her life for this guy and had barely any qualms in letting him foot all the bills. I got tired of hearing how hot and awesome he was. Jake had this horrible and traumatic experience and when he suffered flashbacks, a heart to heart was all that was needed to fix the problem? That seems so ridiculous to me because that's not how the real world works. While I appreciate the fact that there were no unnecessary drama, that the couple was confident with themselves and in each other and that they communicate well, the book had too much of the "all you need is a good woman to save broken man syndrome". Don't get me wrong, I believe that love is powerful and crucial in healing but the way it was portrayed in this book was clumsy and lacked subtlety and sophistication. I hate it when authors feel the need to spell out everything for their readers. As a result Casey and Jake's journey of love and healing felt superficial and trite.
Cute and Light
The story was cute and light-hearted. It felt alot like a Jane Austen book, with misunderstandings and mischief abound. Personally, I prefer more emotionally intense books that I can really sink my teeth into. However, this one is well written and a nice break from heavier stories.

This was a beautiful story and the narration was spot on. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is a personal one. I'm not religious and am not at all interested in religious books. This book had a tad too much references to God for my comfort. It wasn't preachy but still it was enough to make me hesitate on listening to another of her books.
Nice premise but...
I like the twist on Sherlock Holmes and Watson. I'm also a fan of other Sherry Thomas's books. However, I found it difficult to follow the plot. The story felt cluttered with too many characters and threads, leaving the ending muddy anti-climatic. I'm not sure I'm willing to use another credit for the next story, which is a shame.

I was excited to try out a sci-fi romance. The premise sounded very interesting and the reviews were all glowing. Despite the fact that the female narrator sounds 40 instead of 24, I like the dual voices and the sound effects. But! Lisa falls in love with an alien, within 24 hours of being abducted by an alien race and learning that she basically had to become a breeder for said aliens. Not to mention, shouldn't she be in shock with the fact that aliens even exist? Also, as a mother of a six year old son, I can tell you that unlike Lisa's robotic children, even my well behaved child doesn't just say, "Yes mommy." to everything I ask him to do. But the real deal breaker is that this dumb heroine packs a sexy nightgown while knowing that she is leaving her PLANET so she can breed for ALIENS. Um. No. No. No. I did not finish the book because there is no way I am going to waste any more of my life on this utter ridiculousness.

Not a Fan
Admittedly, I am not a sports fan. The only reason I even got the book was because it got such good reviews and I thought it would be good for me to expand my horizons. The sports part of the book was fine but the characters were not. The heroine was lacking in confidence and sass. The hero was too in control, too bossy, too perfect and too sure of himself and of his ability to woo the girl. I stopped listening to it when I realized I could care less about the characters and their lack luster romance.
Good heartwarming story. It was a hit too sappy in places and while I enjoy steaming stories with nice sex scenes, there was a bit too much of it. It got in the way of the story at times and I must admit I found those parts kind of boring. The big dramatic ending was predictable but I can forgive the author because the characters didn't have those annoying miscommunication problems. I like the growth of the characters and the way they worked through their issues like adults. That really saved the book and allowed me to power through other parts.
