shared this book with my 8yr old we both loved it

What did you love best about Museum of Thieves?

To be honest claudia blacks performance. The only reason I purchased the book. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the book for itself too as did my 8 yr old. She has a renewed love for books now :)

What did you like best about this story?

The characters. Always the characters for me. Goldie was well written and the story set up so she is an easy character to relate to and support and want to find out what's happening. I enjoyed the setting in particular the way the towns views on children came about and setting up goldie by her childhood raised in such a different way

Which character – as performed by Claudia Black – was your favorite?

They were all amazing every character it sounded like ten different narrators. The accents and voices were superb.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I enjoyed listening little by little with my 8 yr old and discussing with her the themes and characters.

Any additional comments?

My 8 yr old loved this. I think it's aimed at a bit older kids. I was surprised how much she engaged with the story and the way she pointed things out to me ! She is quite intelligent for her age and some of the things she didn't understand but we talked about and she really enjoyed it. We found it by accident. I bought it as I love claudia black and by accident found a book to share and renew my child's love of reading. Unlike many books I share with the kids this one was engaging and entertaining for me too.

One of the best books I've read

What made the experience of listening to Wounded Healer the most enjoyable?

The way the focus of the book was on Chris who is flawed and broken. And how she was able to build on her strengths. The way it showed that there is hope and a new way and how it's within reach. The book reminded me of my own life and the people who reached out to me. It was a very touching book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chris. Because she reminds me of me. Because she isn't perfect. You'l could feel her fear and anguish and doubt. Erin annoyed me a little at times being so perfect but also she was a compassionate friend to Chris. Scott made me so angry but I enjoyed that aspect of the story and the strain it put on their relationship. Very realistic that he and Chris would clash a lot even though both love Erin.

What does Reneé Raudman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have read the book and listened and defiantly the emotion is more palpable when someone is acting the characters. The Character of Chris I could always hear in my head clearly but I did Come to understand and like Erin much more Hearing the voice acted out rather than my own interpretation. She seemed much more genuine in the audio book. In my own reading I think I projected a more condescending tone to her. So that changed the experience for me.

If you could rename Wounded Healer, what would you call it?

Unworthy

Any additional comments?

Great read. Christian fiction doesn't get as wide an audience as it deserves. Which is a shame because while the book was about God and the differenc he makes in a life and how he can heal etc the primary story for me was of friendship and not giving up on those you love. So in a way it's a shame the story is written behind the Christian message as it narrows the audience. A really great book that deserves more readers.

Very surprising

If you could sum up Thirteen Reasons Why in three words, what would they be?

Surprising. Heartbreaking. Captivating

What did you like best about this story?

The characters it's always characters that make or break the story for me. And the way that the characters develop. As in real life you form opinions and judgments about people and then little by little the book showed me my judgments were wrong. I like the use of the tapes to split the narration it was effective and engaging

Have you listened to any of Debra Wiseman and Joel Johnstone ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. However I would like to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several. The entire way the male character felt and acted was moving. He had genuine compassion. The ending also. I judged the girl on the tapes quite harshly at first however upon hearing the whole story and reflecting on the big picture I felt so much empathy for her.

Any additional comments?

A very moving story. Well written and realistic - no one is perfect. The characters have flaws and make mistakes. Enjoyed the male characters compassion and reaction to the story and enjoyed the way the story was revealed in pieces.

Very engaging and enjoyable

Where does Reconstructing Amelia rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In the top five. The story was well constructed and kept me guessing until the end.

What did you like best about this story?

Two things in particular. Firstly the characters. I don't really like books about teens. Theh make me feel old ! But the characters were so well constructed that I could relate despite the age difference. The young characters were portrayed realistically and in a way that wasn't off putting. And the older characters were also well developed. I like the way the story is told in two time frames back and forth it made a great whole picture for the reader and gave greater insight having the mothers perspective as well as the young girl. The second thing I loved was the ending. No spoilers but it was well done. I rarely say that. I am constantly let down by disappointing or predictable endings. There were hints through the book where it was going and plenty of options for an ending. I felt this was perfect for the story. Really left me feeling like the book had concluded. Not an anti climax at all it was perfect and not over the top.

Which character – as performed by Khristine Hvam – was your favorite?

Kate. Perhaps as she is closer to my age etc. however all the characters well well performed and written. I think Kate is the central character of the book even more than Amelia. Seeing it through her eyes made such a complete picture.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. Yes because it was captivating. No because I needed space and quiet to enjoy where I'm not distracted. I also wanted the experience to last so I like to set aside quiet time each evening to unwind and listen to the book. But if you mean did the book keep me engaged and make me want to keep reading then yes

Any additional comments?

Really well written and performed. I was surprised how much this book got to me. Very real and well conveyed it touched my heart.
