Reminds of Royal Spyness series

I enjoyed the book and just loved Flavia. Cute read, nothing deep and the mystery is easily solved. The genre reminds of the Royal Spyness series series, just that Flavia is a bit younger and there is no hidden romance.
I won't get into the series due to having read other book(s) like it, but would recommend to get the book or series if they come up on sale. Narration was spot on. Some funny moments!

Title is somewhat ill chosen

The story has originality and some interesting characters. However, I felt that the story of Eva was not fully developed. The story started out strong and I was looking forward to Eva's story and her future but got disappointed. Grace's story is somewhat predictable and a bit boring, Grace as a character falls flat as well. Overall, I enjoyed the book. Now, the narrator, that is a different story. Ms. Wilds spoke very clearly, but had an extremely monotone voice and had no way of grasping tense moments in the story. Her accents were horrible, especially the french ones. I almost stopped listening to the book because of the narration. The book is not a deep read but not really a beach read either, it's sort of in between. Nice to get on sale.

Interesting concept

I read the whole book. Always a good sign. This is indeed a unique story and it is interesting, very creative and your imagination wants it to go on. I feel that the author did not think all the aspects of her story and characters through, as the middle drags a bit, and the whole plot is based on the main character and main antagonist not even trying to understand or really speak to each other. The magic, the how to - you will see what I mean - are not explained and therefore the story feels lacking of reason and meaning. The ending is frantic and does not seamlessly close the story, but there is an ending. Would I recommend the book: YES, but only at $2.95 price. The narrator was ok, the male voices were so forced and the whole "yelling" in the book made my blood pressure go up, it did, I promise.

Remember when the Waltons made you feel good?

No, this is not like the Waltons! If you ever watched the Waltons, or the Little Farm on the Prairie, you know what feeling and genre I am going for! All was good with the world because there were good morals. This book will show what was right in those times, but also what was wrong in those times. It is such a feel-good book. The character development is even, but the story despite sometimes being too wholesome, becomes all of a sudden this dangerous maze, where only the good can and will prevail on the bad. You will experience great writing, a murder mystery, good people that come together when the going gets tough, and just young boys that will steal your heart. This is such a different book. If you are looking for something refreshingly new, please get this book. I had such fun listening to it, and my favorite part was when the boys went to the movies to see a movie about aliens. The book talks about majestic, and yes, there is magic in this book. Oh, and don't miss the Wasps!! Hilarious. The narrator was great. Worth a credit, worth reading during your commute or just listening. Great Book.

Good debut

I enjoyed the book. The story plays in two different time areas. I liked the 1950's story and heroine better than the 1970's story and not so much of a heroine. However, the story lacks details and clarity in many areas. The ending is a bit cryptic, you have to pay attention as you come to the last 4 chapters of the audio book. I liked the originality of the story and could have done without the horrible cussing. I would recommend the book. Narration was spot on.

Looking forward to get part 2 on sale

The headline says it.... I enjoyed the book, although you have to truly remember or have a neck for all the foreign names and characters that show up in the book. It is somewhat action driven with a hint of a love story in the background. Part 2 should be good. It is ear-candy if you like this genre of book, not predictable (which is always good) and sadly, somewhat believable. Narration was good, I just had to get used to his voice. Get the book, worth a credit, but better to get it on sale. If you liked my review, please vote for it. Thank you.

Not your Count of Monte Cristo story

This book is really well written and has 2 main characters and two different time periods- and of course parallels. I did not read the book in one sitting, but loved to get back to it whenever I could. There are no twists, but there is a happy ending in the story. Character development is steady and nothing surprising jumps at you. It's a even story with like-able and despicable characters, and it's worth a listen, albeit, better to get it on sale. Narration was great and matched the characters. I would not read it again as I know the ending, but would recommend the book as a beach read or commuter book. Can't get into it, repetitive and no focus

This book starts great, and then it just becomes more and more confusing and reminds me of National Treasure and DaVinci Code. Characters are unbelievable and it is hard to stick with it. The writing is ok, but the story is stagnant and does not move along. Narrator is good.

We are standing on the shoulders of giants...

I would give this book 10 stars. The performance is EXTRAORDINARY, EXCELLENT and just wow. This book is well written, the character are so real, you feel everything and it is full of interesting historical tidbits from Word War I and World War II, but most of all it has excellent character development and you will not want to put this book down. I can only recommend this book. The women are so brave, determined and yet so down to earth. What a story. Get the book!

5 STARS - SWEETEST STORY

You need to read this book. I had just finished a real deep book and wanted something a bit more easy going. Only 25 reviews, but I thought what the heck, I will get it. What a gem!!!
You will love Anna and Claire and all the characters. You will laugh and you will get sad, but such a different, fun and diverse story. It is an easy read, it will make you want to listen to all of it at the time (which I did) excellent commuter book! The narration is hilarious and spot on. Please get it if you are in the mood for something a bit more light and different. You love chocolate, don't you?
You will love this book!
