Unpredictably Enjoyable!

After listening to this book, I bought every Audible book written by Brom. One of the best books I have heard on Audible - and I have listened to many.

No more Scott Meyer books

There are no stakes in any of his books. Loved off to be the wizard, the first I read, but there is a pattern of no real stakes. no one ever dies or loses anything... no suspense cuz everything will be fine because meyer wrote it

slow but good

this is not a fast-paced trilogy... I get annoyed because much of the tension is created by the characters worries but at the same time I'm still hooked and I want to know what's going to happen next and it never ceases to surprise... I think I'm bored and I wonder why I'm listening to this book and then something crazy happens and I just gotta know what's going to happen

have to finish the trilogy now

Ok. very slow at points. very frustrating that much of the tension is manufactured by the anxieties of the main character (nothing actually happens but he worries about what might happen). all the real tension is at the end... but it grabs you there and now I'm hooked.
characters are very interesting... especially the aliens.
also, got thrown when the book fast-forwarded 200 years without a warning..
i already recommended this book to a friend... i would say it's for nerdy types... which I happen to be a closet nerd.. so... really enjoyed it

outstanding book supported by the best reader I've heard... he nails Winslow's characters and evokes their emotions. made this such an enjoyable listen

Excellent story, sub par performance

the narrator seemed to change mid-sentence sometimes. My guess is that he took a break and came back to it later and whoever did the audio editing did not do the best job. The story, however, was very good. Kept you guessing kept you wondering. the author is very thorough sometimes emphasized the protagonists memory too much... We know from the synopsis that the guy doesn't forget anything yet we have him making it very clear over and over and over again even awkwardly using the protagonist to self talk exposition about his symptoms
