Better Than Most

I'm not a huge fan of romance novels, but consent to listen to time travel ones when traveling in the car with my sister. Most drive me crazy with the heroine being stupid and illogical and the hero overbearing and dense. Neither occur in this book. Both accept the reality in which they find themselves. I also liked the fact that they became friends before lovers. Most of these books have them tumbling into bed madly in love/lust by the second night. I have given this 5 stars in spite of it not really being my favorite genre. The story is well written, with well developed characters and a plot that keeps your interest. In addition, the switch between the male and female main characters is well done and unique. If historical romance is your passion, you will enjoy this book.

Excellent Analysis

I have read several books regarding the unexpected election of Donald Trump. I have found them to be skewed toward the political persuasion of the author, with little insightful analysis as to how the pollsters and political experts misjudged the voters so badly. The authors of The Great Revolt actually interview the Trump voter from the Rust Belt that helped tumble The Democratic Blue Wall. They tie these voters' comments into economic, social, and religious statistics and form a cohesive analysis of why these generational Democrats voted for Trump. The authors also explore what this means for the mid-term elections and the future of each political party. The Great Revolt offers interesting personal commentary without insulting either candidate, an exception in the current political environment. The narrator does an excellent job of conveying the emotions of the voters interviewed. I will be recommending this book to my friends who are truly interested in What Happened.

Very Enjoyable

I really enjoyed listening to Mr. Cross's story; it is well suited for the audio format. The main character was an up and coming star in the NYPD until his best friend and partner was killed in a drug bust gone wrong. In the year since his friend's death, his personal and professional life has fallen to pieces. The author does a great job of weaving a mystery with the main character's attempt to find ansolution. I also enjoyed the other characters and hope they are given stronger development if Mr. Cross decides to continue with a series. Well worth a credit.

Wow, Just Wow!

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this book, but it was not the in-depth character development of the main character that made you feel his every emotion. I throughly enjoyed this book. It is not your typical lawyer/courtroom story, although the courtroom moments are compelling. This book involves the moral and ethical dilemmas defense attorneys face. One of the few books I will listen to again.

Surprisingly Good!

To be completely honest, romantic novels are not high on my reading list. However, after reading several dark stories, I was looking for a lighthearted, fanciful story to occupy my mind while spring cleaning. A friend loves time travel romance, so I thought I'd give it a try. My first selection was dreadful. The "modern" woman didn't have a brain in her head and I couldn't get beyond the third chapter. Not expecting this leading lady to be much better, I was pleasantly surprised at her ability to defend herself, yet do her best to fit into the Medieval environment she found herself in. I found myself laughing as she tried to cover slips of the tongue and explain why she was so well educated. The male lead didn't go overboard being the dark brooding type and there are no contrived"misunderstandings" that drive them apart; just two lonely people from different worlds trying to understand one another. While the book did not turn me into a romance novel fangirl, it did provide the lighthearted fun distraction I was seeking.

Very Unexpected

I purchased this book expecting the usual storyline of a guy getting revenge on the people in his past that had caused him to suffer a prison sentence. That is NOT this book. Yes, it has plenty of action and the main character, Jack Winchester, is as tough as they come. However, there is much more to Jack Winchester. The author manages to pack alot of emotional depth into his character without sacrificing any of his alpha male personality. I found the story engrossing and look forward to the next book in the series.

Another Great Red Book!

When James Patterson first started teaming with other authors, I questioned his wisdom. As this book illustrates, his decision was a stroke of genius. Unlike other authors that write series books, his stories stay fresh, interesting and unique. I think this book may be my favorite of the Red series. You end up cheering on the criminal and hating the victims. The complex relationship between former lovers now police partners continues to be interesting without overtaking the story. A very enjoyable read!

Wow! Great Book

I have never read anything by this author and frankly was a little hesitate to purchase this book. I find few authors do strong female lead characters well. Most make them overly emotional or hard as steel; caricatures of real women. The female lead had a difficult childhood, but has made a place for herself as an adult. When faced with issues from her past she reacts as I believe most women would, with doubts and concerns, but also strenght. While I figured out the ending about 3/4's into the story, I enjoyed it to completion. Overall, I liked the book and will definitely purchase another by this author.

Love Teddy Faye!

I am a huge fan of the Stone Barrington series. It is a little like fast-food; you know exactly what you are going to get...sex, money, planes, houses. Not award winning literature but a consistent fun ride. With the Teddy Faye series things are never as formulaistic (not sure that's a word). Teddy always has new tricks up his sleeve and it's always interesting to see how he solves problems without bringing law enforcement to his door. A great summer read. Grab your shades, sunscreen, a cool drink and soak up the summer rays as you follow Teddy on his next adventure!

Interesting All The Way

I think this is my favorite book in the series. It delves into the complex side of good and bad in each of us, without preaching or losing sight of the action. The action is non-stop and adds to the storyline instead of filter for adrenalin junkies. Well worth a credit.
