Somehow I was disappointed......

Since I tend to carry all the audio books of this author, I can say accurately that I personally was disappointed with this book. I do like the narrator, so that is not the problem. Somehow I failed to catch the barbed riposte, or perhaps the scintillating badinage slipped by me. Anyway, I was disappointed!

Entering a new sphere of audio entertainment---

I have encountered a new author who writes with grace and aplomb...and when her written words are coupled with the narration of Nicholas Boulton, a remarkable pairing has been achieved! Marvelous written language...marvelous verbal expression. A winning combination such as this does more than "make my day"! I am filled with emotions and feelings to feed my soul for a long time. This is a listen I shall repeat over and over again.

Remarkable!

With the pairing of author and narrator, this book comes alive. Since I cannot tell the ending, I simply say that it is riveting. Wonderful to hear such compelling words. And this is not my first reading. This story is one that you can save and listen to, over and over. Well done, Audible.

Excellent.....par none!

What a wonderful pairing of author and narrator. With much research to historical detail, ordinary characters came to life with richness and depth. I was mesmerized! It was almost impossible to put this book down and definitely it will be read and reread with enthusiasm!

Splendid!

What else can be said about this book other than it is so much more than a book. It is a story! A masterpiece of the blending of author and narrator! The details carefully crafted with subtle nuances of character allowed JS to weave a splendid narration, and I am finding this is one story to listen to again and again!

Perfect!

Witty! Descriptive! Emotional! And did I mention funny? I laughed out loud and have to applaud the remarkable narrator for so many subtle nuances. Pairing author with narrator makes this audible a five star performance and I can't wait for the next offering!
