Please, Get a Professional Narrator

The story itself is powerful. But the Narration is just horrible. You're talking WAY to fast and running sentences together almost. You need to relax. It's like you're trying to tell a one hour story in 5 minutes.
That may be your normal way of talking, but Damn. It's really tough getting through this book while listening to you.
Don't get me wrong. It's your story, and some may say, Your Story to Tell.. but you should really think about Re-recording it in a more relaxed manor. It's called Enunciation. Clarity. Pronunciation. Word Cadence.

Let-Down

Honestly, I've listened to a lot of WW-II books. This is just lacking everywhere. Anyone can put a book together by reading the Action Reports. There is just very little depth to this book.

More like Sliver of Hope

Truly Amazing! Easily one of the best top 3 or 4 books I've listened to through Audible.com. The Structure of the book, the Narrators, and the story itself combines into such a gripping, honest, open and heart-full story of truth.
Don't judge too quickly on who's the good guys and who's the bad guys.
There are moments of God Everywhere at any time.

Thank you for such a wonderful listen.

Audie Award Winner Worthy of the Award

I listen to a lot of books through my MP3 player. I drive thousands of miles a Month. I stumbled upon this series of books just a few weeks ago, while looking through the Award Winners section of Audible. In just a couple weeks, I've gone through 4 of these books. L.A. Meyer knows how to weave a tale. The Narrator is outstanding in her performance of ever character. She keeps every character their own. These stories are Highly Entertaining! You'll Laugh, you'll Scream, you'll Cry, you'll Sing! It's amazing at how the Author brings true History within the story and such depth to every part of the books.
I Highly Recommend this series.

Wonderful

I was amazed to see this book out this month. I caught it just a few days after it was released. I am in awe of Mr. Maguires writing. The depth and intensity of the language he uses and invents is simply amazing to hear. Mr. McDonough's narration is so extraordinary, it's as if he was born to read these pages and bring them to life. The whole series has been a joy to listen to. There is so much to these stories and this book, it's hard to sum up in a few sentences. You simply have to listen and believe.
Thank you so much for taking a simple guideline and making it so enjoyable without hurting the original story of "The Wizard of Oz".
You are a true Master of Words.
Thank you very much for all your books and this series.

Holds Up Nicely

When I first thought about getting this book, I wondered how it would hold up after so many years. It was Amazingly Entertaining. Easy to follow, even with the European places and names. It keeps you engaged at every turn right up to the end. I can easily understand why it's considered a 'Classic'. It's a Great Book.

The Beginning of a Wonderful Series of Books.

Allan Eckert brings the 'New Frontier' into such a stark and vast understanding of what life was like back then, it is amazing. This is so much more than History, it is true Life. I have read all the books in this series and find them unequaled by any other Author. The amazing detail and research shows on every page. I can only hope that Audible will have more of his books on line soon for everyone to enjoy. I appreciate being able to revisit this book in it's Unabridged version and the Narrator does a fantastic job with all the Characters that you come across. His speech and pace, pronunciation of the Indian Dialect is spot on. Thanks so much for making this such an outstanding listen.

A Story to be Thankful For

One of the most amazing stories I've heard. By Land, Sea or Air, it has everything. Louis Zamperini is one of the true Soldiers who have done so much for our country. His Honor and Faith through his life is a shinning example of what a person can do and what a person can live through. As a Veteran, I salute you Mr. Zamperini, and Thank You for sharing your story.
Laura Hillenbrand, you are an amazing author and truly deserve great things for writing such an amazing book.

A Jungle you can see and hear

An Amazing story. I've listened to other books about this subject, but really enjoyed this version. The characters and story line flow wonderfully. It's amazing what people can overcome and live through. I lived in the Philipines for a short time and it brought back memories of the area. There is a rich history there that most people just don't know about.

You can hear the bubbles from the scuba gear.

This was the first book I downloaded from Audible. To date, it's the book I listen to most often. The author does an amazing job of communicating the feel, sights and pressures of diving. It's amazing to hear about the crews involved and first hand accounts of the history of the sub involved. Those brave crews deserve to be honored, and are so, in this book. Where before I had little understanding for the Nazi Machine of War, this book put things in perspective, showing that all Men are Honorable
in their quest for life at a basic, equal level.
You don't have to be a War Enthusiast, History Buff, or Scuba Diver to enjoy this book. It speaks on many levels to every person who listens to it. Very enjoyable. Well Worth it.
