SHE LIKED THE WORD HYSTERICS

Like most middle age men, I avoided this thinking it would be silly or girly, etc. Like most of the times I have listened to a children's classic, I found it was intelligently written, very entertaining and just simply a pleasure to listen to. Written in 1911, it is as important for your child and you to read this now, as it was back than. I loved the message of get outside and explore. I loved the message of don't judge every book by it's cover. I loved the message of, people can change and often that change is brought on by the individuals they associate with.

I will probably listen to other versions of this as their are so many and I have trouble turning down a sale book, but I can't see how any versions, could be better read than this.

Do your self a favor and get this book

HOT JETS

This is one of RAH's best collections and one of his best novels after the YA novels. If you want to take the glory out of space and show what it might be like for the every day Joe to live and work on space ships, this gives you a good feeling for it.

Weiner basically has one male voice and it is often hard to tell the gravely men apart.

White Indians

This is a good story, one of Twain's best. Offerman is a great comedian and I loved him on Parks And Rec. But the two together should not Twain. Off has a deadpan delivery that works well in his comedy, but is awful for reading an exciting adventure such as this. This book has comedy, but not in the Off style. A lot of his fans love him and are giving him five stars, but don't believe it.

COUNCIL OF PIECES

PARLAY, FRENCH FOR, I AM A PUSSY, PLEASE DON'T STAB ME

This was a very entertaining, scary, gory book. It is unique and it is plausible, which makes it that more scary. It is strange what gets us in the gut the most. The book is full of stabbings, shootings, heads blown away, etc, what made me feel the worst was when a guy's hands where cut off on purpose. The humiliation, the helplessness, just makes me more queasy then a gory death. This is the only book Bockoven has at audible, I hope more are planned.

COMFORTABLE SHOES

SHE CHOSE THE BLUE DRESS AND COMFORTABLE SHOES
Some female authors are my favorites, some who write like females are not. This is written in the way my wife explains to me how to take the laundry out of the washer and put it into the dryer, making me feel like a stupid kid. Lots of women and some men like to talk about every little thing in their life, few men do and most men could care less.

Other Tangents

It is a subject that fascinates me, so about anything on the subject would warrant four stars. I learned a lot and it is still interesting and I will listen to more on the subject if there is any. Like another reviewer, it seemed like most of the book was opinion and not fact. I understand that AS was writing a book for the common layman, but it seemed like maybe she needed to do a little more research. Although she does start the book by explaining that their is not a lot on the subject matter. In that case the book should have been shorter and does she really think earthworms are beautiful, etc. There was probably more about organic gardening than worms. She often went of on tangents to the point where you are thinking and this has to do with worms, how?

Too Long and Too Boring

definitely not a good reread. I enjoyed this years ago. I read the hard copy. I am not saying their is anything wrong with the narration, I just enjoyed it a lot more in hard cover.

YOGA BOY

If this author would have stuck to Just The Facts Mam, I probably would have enjoyed it. Although most of the facts, given to you like your some idiot, you already known. What killed this for me was the way too many jokes. The jokes were not that funny and as another reviewer says, this reads more like a James Bond Novel. Have you ever read a James Bond Novel? They are nothing like the movies. One of those cases where the movie is better than the book. Perhaps this will be made into a movie.
I also had trouble with the character. One minute he is a geeky unphysical YOGA BOY, the next minute he is james Bond. Make up your mind, which is he.

I could not get into this one.

UNGIRLS

HER NEWLEY VENTILATED CRANIUM
This is the same author who wrote GO TO F@#@ TO SLEEP. He seems to be making a living surprising people and he is probably doing well at it. I actually listened to over six hours of this, as I gravitate to weird, but I also want a plot and this is sorely lacking in that department. If your looking for weird and gory, this is for you, as long as you don't care about a story.

TEARS OF RAIN AND PAIN

Another writer who goes out of her way to be overly descriptive. Some readers get into that sort of thing, but I am not one of them. If not done well and I mean real well, it becomes distracting. The stories are also not stories, they are situations. Make sure and listen to the sample and the narrator and imagine hours of that.
