BORING - convoluted - slow!!

I found this novel was so slow in the beginning that I began to skip to other chapters. Each chapter had the same boring rhythm. My mind was drifting away from the story. I could not continue as it bored me so much so stopped half way. Maybe granny in a rocking chair would like to listen to this slow pace but I had to return it.

Grandstanding about politics in middle east

I was under the impression that this story was about a kidnapping case. However it was only a veil hiding the true purpose about the propaganda regarding the convoluted problems in the middle east. The main character was constantly lecturing about this and that and there was no let up. After about an hour I could not stand it a moment longer and returned ti!!

Like listening to grass grow!

I found this book soooo slow moving. Could not concentrate on it as it moved inch by inch. It got very convoluted and every conceivable detail was regurgitated. Could not continue especially when there was no surprise as the write-up told you who was going to be arrested for the crime anyway!!

Sensitive account of young man's sexual awakening

An account of a youth's awakenings into finding out who he is and his sexuality. I did not think I would like it but it is very sensitively written with the characters clearly defined with the mixture of music and classical literature.

A manual on how to be a misogynist

This book is very misogynistic and has two men who practice this behaviour. One is a cop and the other is a serial killer. The so called heroine aides and abets all of this. The text has many cliches - peppered with banal sexual banter between the "good guy" and the "bad guy". I tried my best to plough on but had to stop and return!! I was being generous with one star!!

Great Narration, and unique plot.

Good narrator but I recognized remants taken from other books. Plot was unique. A real rollercoaster ride.

Story like a "teen flix"

Too many undefined characters (hard to keep track) and the story had a lot of loose threads. I felt that they were not completely resolved.

Story was ok but dragged out too much.

The parts of old cop - young cop - was over done and the character of the young cop was a bit nebulous. I still don't get what the canoeist was doing on the river and what that had to do with everything?

Characters a bit predictable

Main female character was over-done and had a whiny voice which started to get irritating. Instead of feeling empathy with her (as the author intended with all her stories of woe) all I wanted to do was put a sock in it!!

Its got everything - romance, crime and intrigue.

I was very impressed with this unique story. something that is very plausible and different to the run of the mill of crime stories.
