Extraordinary !

I feel this story was well balanced and a great read. lots of substance to go along with "good girl falls hard for bad boy/good guy" -with a twist or two. I want one for my very own!!! 😙

Absolutely brilliant!

I was a young woman in the 1970s and 80s and I can certainly see now how women are so close to losing it all. I think we've lost our comraderie and spirit and lost sight of our own futures. And with the last presidential election I think we may be closer than we think. We will not be able to maintain our independence if we do not stand together. Fanaticism lives and breathes.

Ending is a bust!

I'll be sure to research more by this author but the ending might have just cured me forever.

Darn near perfect!

Nora and Tom made a perfect pair. Great murder mystery with Southern charm, a great lesson in family values and lots of love and romance. Absolutely worth the credit!

Heartwarming story...

While HM has a very nice voice ,she's a little too breathy for me. I did finish the book but would not recommend to anyone who is sensitive to four letter words. The only two words in the book that really bothered me were the excessive repetitiveness of "thus" and "alas". Who talks like that!

Save your credit

Don't get me wrong - the voice actor has a very pleasant voice. I just didn't enjoy listening to her read from the perspective of a 19-year-old young woman character and very little differentiation between any of the other characters. The book just seems wrong on so many levels. I don't think audible made it clear that it was an inspirational romance first off (my mistake) and there were situations that seem highly unlikely in mid-19th-century among the wealthy and affluent. Sutton spending many hours in the late day in Claire's bedroom keeping her awake after a head injury, for one. More than a big issue for me was the portrayal about the mental faculties of a 48-year-old man. They talk about him like he was 108. I found the book to be fussy and so slow, even though I was interested in the story and finding out how it ended. I still have 3 hours to go and I don't think I can stand it anymore. I buy books that I can read or listen to again and again and I won't be listening to this one again. This book is more than painful. Historical detail aside - Save your credit.

More than an hour and a half to go and the author just portrayed a woman that can't be 50 with serious dementia. This seems to be a continuous theme throughout.

After re-reading reviews from others, I feel certain that these people didn't actually read the book but skimmed through it.

Luscious!

A very enjoyable read with lots of exquisitely written passion. I thought the murder plot a little on the weak side but still well written. Simon Preblble is perhaps one of the best voice actors ever!
