Suicide manipulation? Awful! Smart people being obtuse or just plain downright stupid. Expected way more from this author.
Don’t know enough about these parts of the world, especially the ancient place names. Really needed to the maps, which are in the book and referred to by the reader. Family tree wouldn’t helped too.
Almost stopped reading this - but decided to finish. I’m left feeling really ambivalent about it. Not sure if it was entertaining. Not a murder mystery, although there are murders. Not sure I’d recommend the book. Maybe the reader made it likeable. I would like to ask the author “say what?”
First couple of chapters the protagonist is so shallow, so New York, so millennial I almost stopped listening. But stuck it out. There was more going on as you got into the book more.
Not a police procedural. Evil, powerful conspiracy throughout the force and various peripheral characters. Too far fetched. . .
George McGovern did not run for president in 1968. How could such a glaring error make it thru the editing process?

If you like bloody thrillers . . . This series is for you. Reader keeps you interested and listening.
Definitely dated but interesting. Meant to relevant to it's time, 60 years later the US still has a Mid East problem and Africa is more complicated than we realize.

Would rate the main reader zero stars if I could! Declarative sentences turned into questions??? Annoying to say the very least.
Suspend your common sense. Some of the action depends on people being truly idiots. The multimillionaire psychotic is a little hackneyed to say the least.
