Trapped in Abuse

This is a story of one woman's life in a very abusive marriage. It started slowly, then escalated to such an extreme that she had no other option in order to protect herself and the children. An extremely difficult story to listen to. One can kind of understand why she stayed, and endured for years, as the children would suffer more if she left and was unable to get them out with her. She is extremely lucky to have survived. It's impossible to understand what makes a person treat another person, that they supposedly love, so horribly. Just sad for everyone involved.
As usual, Kevin Pierce's narration is flawless. He is by far the best narrator for true crime stories, and beyond. Easy to follow. Professional all the way through.

Unimaginably Tragic

This is the story of Sylvia Likens of Indianapolis, Indiana in the 1960s. She was brutally, brutally, brutally, tortured and murdered for no reason whatsoever. I feel that it is important to say her name. I live in Indy and have known this story all my life. This book has a slightly different perspective, so it was interesting to kind of get the back story of the adult murderous ringleader. I refuse to state her name, although I will never forget it. Sylvia suffered horrendously basically due to what began as shallow jealously. How, and why, the neighborhood kids came over and joined in, is beyond me. The penalties for these people were either non-existent or extremely lenient. None of the perpetrators should have ever seen the light of day. It is a difficult story, but Sylvia deserves for the truth to be told. The narration was smooth and easy to follow.
Rest in Peace, Dear Sylvia.

Interestingly Enjoyable!

Very interesting story. From the beginning of National Lampoon through the making of Caddyshack. Did not want it to end. Birdseye view inside the story. Quite entertaining and enjoyable. Recommended listen for any true Caddyshack fan!!

Heartbreakingly Sad

All true crime stories are very sad, and this is no exception.
When the young men of a poor town in Texas start to go missing in the early 1970s, the police wrongly chalk them up to hippy, dope head, runaways. Until a very unexpected event happens that opens the whole thing up to the truth, an unimaginable hell for these young men.
This narrator, Kevin Pierce, is one of the very best for true crime stories. He smoothly tells the story, and keeps it going. By far, one of my favorite narrators.
I recommend this book to any true crime fan. My heart breaks for these boys and their families.

Psycopath!

This is a story about a person who has no disregard for anyone besides himself. A true psychopath. Kept me interested through to the end, as I was wondering how he would get caught.
The narrator, Kevin Pierce, was perfect yet again. Any true crime book narrated by Mr. Pierce is a good listen.

Powerful!

If you could sum up Junkie Love in three words, what would they be?

What A Story!!!

What did you like best about this story?

The honesty of the author. And, of course that the author landed on the other side alive.

What about Timothy McKean’s performance did you like?

The narration was perfect. I had to keep reminding myself that it was not the author doing the narration.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not only one moment, many moments. His ties to his mother that were strained at times, but ultimately they were good. Family wins out sometimes.

Any additional comments?

Sad true crime story

Where does Every Mother's Nightmare rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Well written. Long, and full of details, but that was the only way to successfully tell this story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The mothers and the prosecutor. They refused to give up no matter what odd events happened that tried to thwart justice.

Any additional comments?

Kevin Pierce is by far the very best narrator for true crime stories. If he's narrating it, I have to listen, no matter what its about.

Good Historical Fiction

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Good plot. I particularly enjoy historical fiction. This is a prequel to other stories to follow. Will definitely be checking them out as well.

What about Tim Campbell’s performance did you like?

Tim Campbell is an excellent narrator. Would not hesitate to listen to other audio books narrated by Mr. Campbell.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No particular moment. Crispin Guest, disgraced, stripped of his titles, yet still held on to his pride. Enemies abound around every corner, strong character.
