Since its publication in 1952, Charlotte's Web has become one of America's best-loved children's books. For fifty years, this timeless story of the pig named Wilbur and the wise spider named Charlotte who saved him has continued to warm the hearts of readers everywhere. This 1953 Newbery Honor Book comes to life in a delightful unabridged recording, read lovingly by the author himself.
After hearing from multiple listeners that this audiobook was not just the best kids' book on Audible but possibly the best book on Audible, period, I knew I had to give it a try. What a gorgeous masterwork, as lively and timeless in its themes of friendship, love, and the circle of life as it was 50 years ago, and laugh-out-loud funny, to boot. The author's reading is, of course, spot-on; he's better than perfect. Highly, highly recommended for listeners aged 6 to 86.
With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.
Loved this audiobook! Anne of Green Gables was my very favorite childhood book and this audiobook version did not disappoint in the slightest! Such an exquisite reading by Rachel McAdams who captured the personality, exuberance, and romance of Anne Shirley perfectly!!! She spoke just as I always imagined Anne speaking and gave such a lovely expression to all of Anne's thoughts. This was the most enjoyable audiobook I've ever listened to and I would listen all over again!
