I'll be honest, I was smug in thinking that I had it all figured out. But I was wrong. Then I thought I had it figured out again, but I was still wrong. I was truly surprised by the ending.
Definitely a good thriller that keeps you guessing. Lags a little in the middle, but makes it up in last half of the book. Narration was spot on. I would read something else she wrote!

I get hung up sometimes on the review details. Lately I decided to go back to the reviews of the books I really enjoyed and noticed a pattern...there's always a handful of disgruntled folk. Thankful to have that fact in my pocket and ultimately selecting this book.
Interesting story, great characters, fantastic narration, and suspense from start to finish.
Bollocks to any naysayers...this is a great book and well worth the credit!

Oh man. This book sure dragged. There is a twist ending so I gave a few stars for that, but for the first 3/4 of the book, absolutely nothing happens. Unfortunately, the writing and the way the story unfolded was very unrefined; it definitely reads like a first novel. Repetitive interactions between flat characters. Unrealistic and stilted dialogue meant to convey part of the plot, but is in no way reflective of how actual people speak conversationally. We are given the most insight into the main character, and even then, she is so flat and devoid of personality that I kept forgetting her name. Who is she? Why should I care about her, and her perspective? What does she feel, think, care about? I need more than just to know that she is walking, and now she sees her boyfriend, and now she is walking again, and now she is looking at herself in the mirror. Writing lacked maturity to make a truly effective thriller.

I loved this book. The narrators were very good and they can make or break the story for me. I read several reviews on the internet for this book and it seems like you either love it or hate it. If you are a fan of slasher movies you will probably enjoy this book. I really didn't know who the killer was until the very end because I was looking where I was lead. I would recommend this book.

H was like a conversational dentist, extracting what needs to be removed. Suspicion hovers over the table, humid and sour. Anticipation pulses off her skin like body heat. Her repeated moans like a taunting bird in the branches. The previous sentences are quotes from the book (I had an issue with audible recognizing the quotations) appeal to you (and there are tons that are similarly bad) then you may enjoy the book. Quincy (the main character) is a thieving, wimpy, defensive victim who is easily led into assault. Her boyfriend is an obnoxious jerk and none of the other cardboard characters in this novel are any better. I was hoping to be thrilled by this book (that has stellar reviews), but was obviously let down. I had nothing invested in Quincy (her entire personality rang false) so I didn't care if she lived or died. If you can't stand the main character (and the entire book is told from her perspective) what chance does the book have? The writing was atrocious (as I've already mentioned) and I could make a decent novel using only the bad metaphors/similes and lousy dialogue. I predicted the plot twist; was bored through most of story and the Central Park occurrence was so over-the-top I almost quit the book right there. At that point, I decided I would soldier through it, so I varied the speed between 1.5 and 2 times regular.. I didn't give one star, only because I managed to finish it. Narrators were decent, and possibly even really good, so I'm adding a star since I think my opinion is colored by the view of the novel.

Loved it! The only thing that I find odd is the use of two narrators for the same character. Both were great, but it just seemed odd. Loved some of the pets others said were “boring.” The twists were great!
