A Well Told Story Told From Far Away
This a a brilliant tale beautifully told of what it is when your world slowly disintegrates and the familiar becomes alien and then to be a refugee in a strange world.
It deals with the terrible events in a very gentle and genteel way. It has beautifully crafted language and it slips smoothly by.
There in lies the problem it reads as if the writer has never had a days hardship in his life. It is a tale told from the top looking down on the hoi polloi through a reverse telescope.
It very well done but its also very Oxbridge. it just lacks a feeling of authenticity.
