Essential reading for all AI fans

What did you like most about Prototype D?

I really liked the intrigue and twists and turns in the book that come about as one of our important characters, Hazel, learns more of the history behind the rise to power of the Mainlanders, and its corrupt rulers. Alongside this we see Hazel’s struggle with her misplaced loyalties and the thinking of her two robots, Esroy and Des, who become central to success in the war between Mainland and Outland. Very good.

What other book might you compare Prototype D to, and why?

You have to think of I robot but we have a nuclear holocaust as a starting point so it's very dystopian as well.

What about James Foster’s performance did you like?

James Foster’s performance was excellent. He talks in a clear manner, creating different voices for the different characters and he drew me into the story. Very good.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It makes me think about AI and the ethics behind it. When does artificial become real intelligence. Is there a difference? Do we encounter this as a species with the same bias and fear that we encounter everything else that is new or different?
