An Unusual and Complicated Tale
The setting is in Germany, a first for me. Jeff Cummings is an outstanding reader, brings the translation to life. It took me a bit to get acquainted with he characters, but I soon got a feel for them. The story is unusual in that the police are outsmarted by the murderer, and they have difficulty finding a motive. I kept wondering why they could not keep the victims safe. Why not just lock them up?
I wish I had found Book 1 before Book 2, then the detective's personal issues would have fit this story better. Probably better to read Book 1 first, but I already know the outcome of Book !, so that's not an option.
