A great Witchy read.

If you could sum up Witches in three words, what would they be?

Engaging, Tense and Magical.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Witches?

There isn't one that stands out because I found the whole book to be one enthralling.

Have you listened to any of Erica L. Risberg’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is my first by her. I really enjoyed her voice and how she did the characters.

Any additional comments?

Witches was an awesome book. Amanda is a really strong character and I loved her. She is grief stricken when she looses her husband and that's how she is transported to another time to live out her days as a wicked witch. It's the only time she was vulnerable. She is an extremely strong white witch but she does something silly and loses her powers and can't get herself out of the time period she is sucked into, the time when witches were killed. She has to try to find a way back before she is killed for being a witch.
Katherine Meyers Griffith has managed to create another amazing world. The books I've read by her so far are all character driven, and while that can make the a bit slow, I thoroughly enjoyed them. They are the type of stories that will stay with you long after you finish reading them.

Good story bad editing and voice

Met expectations and enjoyed time travel, just not the reader. Different character voices not well thought out and hard to follow.

Story is good, reader is not...

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the story of Witches although I find the reading by Erica Risberg to be so distracting that I found myself constantly having to retune into the book, I took several "breaks" from listening for this same reason. Erica Risberg has a habit of making the last word on one sentence the first world of the next, this can often change how whole scenes are read making it necessary to relisten to get it right. I found this very distracting but who knows, you might not even notice!!! Despite this the book is still interesting, I especially like the past scenes although the "thees and thous" get a bit tedious, not sure if this is the writing or the reading through. I have enjoyed this author's other audiobooks by other actors so I don't think this is all her writing style. Overall still worth a listen if you have some extra time.

Very surprising (pleasantly surprising) novel

Where does Witches rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

About an 8 or a 9. It had a surprising plot twist I never saw coming and then the book was unpredictable from that point on. The characters were also very likable. The book swayed between comfortable and fun, to terrifying and high action. No dull spots, complex characters and situations. Nothing bad to say about it at all.

What other book might you compare Witches to and why?

Outlander.

What does Erica L. Risberg bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a comfortable, warm voice that I very much enjoyed

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The twist in the story out of pure shock value and the ending. Very satisfying ending.

Any additional comments?

Just really liked this book. I'm waiting for the sequel to come out in audiobook.

Witches

Erica L.Risberg is fantastic as narrator for this book. Amanda is a white witch. She tries to keep this from people in her village because to them al witches are bad.She has a friend in town,a,potter who's kiln she uses. She is wrongly accused when a cult moves into the area. As it turns out the cult is making it look that way. They want her out of the way. We go back in time where she can find some of the answers and help.
I was given this book for free for an honest review

Buy the kindle version instead

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.
The story was good, and on its own merits deserves 4 stars, but the narrator drove me crazy. She would make it sound like the sentence was over and then add "too" as an afterthought.
The rhythm felt off and she read too slow. Because I did like the book, I stopped and tried to go back three different times before giving up. I read other reviews and some people were not bothered by the narrator and others were. My advice? Buy the paperback or kindle version instead, you'll enjoy it a lot more.
