This book is ACE!

I loved this book! A great psychological thriller. There are few books I can think of where the reader is invited to identify with the bad guy as well as with the good guy.It made me look at the nature of good and evil in a new and enlightening way.

The narrator who is also the author does a fantastic job. I only wish more authors would narrate their own books. My only gripe is that it was abridged. I much prefer unabridged books, and I didn't want this one to end.

This book drew me in and had me so hooked that I ended up listening to it in one complete session! Wonderfull!

Sad but good story

I like this book. The author does an excellent job playing the various characters. He is one of the best I've heard.

What I like about the story is that it shows the different ways people cope with childhood abuse and depression. Yes, this is a sad story and now that I'm done listening, I'm going to pick a happier book.

The only thing I didn't like was the ending. It was somewhat cliche.

Very interesting novel

The author, a psychiatrist, presents the thinking of the way the killer gets victims to trust him in a psychologically accurate format, unlike other author's. This makes this book not only interesting, but educational, as well. Highly recommend to readers who love mysteries.

Author-reader a bit flat

Sometimes an author provides just the right voice for his novel. That wasn't true for Psychopath. I really missed the spirit that some of the fine actors give to an authors' words. This author's flat voice made the listen a bit tedious.
The story itself kept my attention enough to finish the book, but in places I just found myself saying, "Oh no, here comes Hollywood again" because it read a tad like it was intended to be made into a mediocre movie. No "Silence of the Lambs" here - this is more the stuff of an intriguing trailer that turns out to be a disappointing film. Predictable in some places, very Hollywood in others. (Every pretty woman to which we are introduced in the story eventually becomes attracted to our main character. And outside of Hollywood, would anyone put themselves in the hazardous situations that some of the characters in this story do?)
Some of the situations are resolved in a slightly atypical way, and some of the psychological insights are intriguing, but all in all I felt I'd heard this story many times in forgettable movies. However, it did keep my attention, so I gave it three stars.

This held my attention from the start. I loved that it was told from the killer's perspective. Great attention to detail, excellent character formation. Very worthwhile listen!
