Screenwriter/novelist Ross LaManna has served as Chairman of the Undergraduate Film Department at the Art Center College of Design since 2006. He attended the USC School of Cinema-Television in Los Angeles, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Screenwriting. He also holds a Master of Arts (With Honors) in Dramatic Writing from Arizona State University. His first industry job was in international legal affairs at Norman Lear's and Jerry Perenchio's Embassy Pictures. A spec script written while there landed him a two-picture writing deal at United Artists. Carolco Pictures then hired him under a unique, two-year "in-house screenwriter" arrangement. He has sold original screenplays, pitches and performed writing or rewriting services for Fox, Disney, Paramount, Columbia, Universal, and many independent companies. His spec script RUSH HOUR became one of the top ten films of 1998. The action comedy, starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, broke several box office records. RUSH HOUR 2, based on the characters he created, also shattered records, earning $225 million domestically. RUSH HOUR 3 was released in 2007. His first novel, ACID TEST (Ballantine Books), is a geopolitical thriller chosen as an Amazon.com "Penzler Pick". ACID TEST was also The Mysterious Bookshops selection for “Best First Fiction”, has been translated into several languages, and is available as an audiobook on the iTunes store and through Audible.com. His graphic novel, MARKUS FANG, co-authored by Shannon Eric Denton, was published by Arcana Studios. Memberships include the Writer's Guild of America; the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences; and the Mystery Writers of America. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the United States Air Force Entertainment Liaison Office. He taught Writing the Action/Adventure Film for UCLA Extension and served for three years as a Judge in UCLA's and DreamWorks' Diane Thomas Screenwriting Awards. He is represented for film and TV by David Saunders, Hayden Meyer and Jim Gosnell at APA, and for New York literary by Lisa Vance at the Aaron Priest Agency.
