Dear readers, I always wanted to write for as long as I can remember. I used to work in Afghanistan for a little over two years. before the end of my second year in Afghanistan, I came down with Malaria which, forced me to take many day off from work to deal with nonstop sweating and fever. I felt alone, sad, and missed my family. I told my self, despair is not going to help me, I must do something to keep myself busy. I told myself, "What about that book you always wanted to write?" And I did! This book is dear to my heart. The lack of progress in Afghanistan and the highly corrupt Afghan government goes against optimism one feel going there for the first time and wanting to help the Afghan people. However, seeing will make one believe. I wanted to tell my story in a way to explain how the almost 14 year-old-war will ultimately end and at the same time, point out the cultural distance between the West and Afghanistan in a very interesting plot.
