I graduated from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in May 2015 with a B.S. Biology Pre-Professional. I then attended medical school at William Carey for one semester before withdrawing to pursue my passion to write my first novel. In switching my major from English to Biology my sophomore year, I was able to gain a background heavy in the fine arts as well as the sciences. I got the best of both worlds and now I apply what I know (and sometimes what I don't) to my writing. I have a passion for open endings, symbols, metaphors, irony, play on words and love to find ways to apply these to the hard outlines often associated with science, like a merging of the left and right side of the brain. I currently write for the Lookout Mountain Mirror and released my first novel, Behind the Pines, on July 26, 2017. Since the book's release, it has been nominated for the TCK Publishing 2017 Reader's Choice Awards and received a gold star from The Book Designer. In addition to being a writer, I am a new wife and a fresh mother, so I often find comfort in comedy... And wine. And coffee. And a good book.
