John Lucas grew up and resides in Northern Kentucky. He was a corporate attorney for 34 years, and is an Adjunct Professor at Northern Kentucky University. He began attending cars race with his father when he was a young boy, and has been a fan since that day. For a number of years he worked as a member of the "Safety Patrol" at the Indianapolis Speedway during the running of the Indianapolis 500. He also made a one hour documentary about his book called "The Legend of Stan Bowman."
