My name is Don Gabor. I’m the author of How to Start a Conversation and Make Friends (Simon & Schuster Imprints; 1983, revised 2001, 2011), plus eight other non-fiction books and audio programs on business and interpersonal communication skills published by Simon & Schuster, McGraw-Hill Professional, Random House/Crown, Prentice-Hall Press, Prima, and Random House Audio. Over the years my books have sold 29 foreign rights and have been translated into 15 languages. In total, domestic and foreign book and audio sales are close to 1 million copies. I have co-authored two self-published books: Laugh of the Hyenas (a World War II spy novel) and Chef’s Choice: 22 Culinary Masters Tell How Japanese Food Culture Influenced Their Careers and Cuisine. My books have been featured in many online, print, radio, and television interviews, including 60 Minutes: A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and others. For what it's worth, The New Yorker called me “a gifted conversationalist.” I have presented hundreds of networking and communication workshops to corporations, associations, and small businesses, and coached individuals in public speaking and non-fiction book writing. I was a member of the National Speakers Association for 20 years and was the 2010–2011 President of the New York City chapter.
