Publisher's summary

Mistress of Dragons is the first volume in an epic fantasy trilogy entitled The Dragonvald. Here is a world where men and dragons coexist amid political intrigue and dark magic, where the uneasy balance of power between the two is on the verge of becoming undone, threatening to unleash waves of destruction that will pit humans against humans as well as dragons against men for the domination of the world. Humanity's very survival is at risk.

The power to hold the chaos at bay, the terrible secret that maintains the balance, rests in the hands of a new and inexperienced Mistress of Dragons.

Don't miss the next book in the Dragonvarld Trilogy The Dragon's Son.

Keeping the standard

Margaret Weis has long been noted in our family as a top notch author, and she continues to maintain that standard with this book. This is the first audio book we've listened to by Ms. Weis, and Gigi Marceau-Clarke has tapped into Ms. Weis storytelling style with remarkable skill. The only down side: waiting for the next segment of the story!

Boring

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this to a friend. Weis is clearly dialing it in here.

Has Mistress of Dragons turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. There are still plenty of other good books in the genre.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Gigi Marceau-Clarke?

Depends on the book.

Was Mistress of Dragons worth the listening time?

Not at all worth the listening time.

Good listening to

Great storyline, unexpected turn of events in a set of multi-faceted characters. Am already looking forward to the sequel "A Dragon's Son" --- hope you pre-ordered :)

Wonderful Tale of adventure!

The story was true to the mark Weis has set. The suspense of waiting for the next one is going to kill me!

More Unabridged Weis!

I've been reading Margaret Weis for years, and I was thrilled when I saw "Mistress of Dragons". All I can say is, "More! More!"

Fantastic

I couldn't put this book down. About the time I thought I knew what it was about, it shocks me by something I never saw coming.

I was very intrigued by the story, and can hardly wait to listen to the 2nd book. Definitely worth your time to listen to this one.

good story but characters left me cold

This is a well-crafted story that moves along nicely, very original in many ways. However, the characters left me cold. They were all flat. In a really excellent book, even a fantasy, I like to imagine the characters as real but these are very one-dimensional and hard to like. I am not sure I would read a sequel to this book.

What a great story!

My husband and I just finished this audio book and we anxiously await the next installment of this imaginative and unpredicable story. The characters are richly drawn and the story constantly kept us amazed and guessing. Ms. Weis is not afraid of getting out on a limb and that is one thing that makes this story so fascinating and unique. The narrator is well-choosen. The book is told in a well-paced voice with good character differenciations. I loved being carried away to the land of dragons and the unpredictible human pawns during our long commutes to work.
